Moldova Civil Society Strengthening Program announced the implementing partners of the program

On April 19th , during the Workshop: Civil Society in Moldova – becoming stronger and viable, AED presented the USAID-funded Moldova Civil Society Strengthening Program (MCSSP) and announced the implementing partners of the program.

Over the course of the two hours workshop, MCSSP Partners and civil society representatives discussed the most efficient approaches and opportunities on how to make civil society in Moldova viable, stronger and better advocate of citizen interests. The event took place at 10.00, in the Hotel Codru.

The MCSSP aims to work with a selected group of civil society organizations (CSOs), which will be providing support services to Moldovan CSOs in order to enhance their skills to effectively represent citizen interests and to improve their governance and management practices.  Partners will seek also to strengthen the legal and fiscal framework for CSOs and to promote the diversification of financial resources available to civil society organizations.

The European Centre for Nonprofit Law, the Program’s international partner organization, will assist local stakeholders in developing and implementing the relevant legal provisions aiming at improving the legal and fiscal framework for Moldovan CSOs.

Civil society role in this effort is critical in strengthening the representative democracy in Moldova.  Through the MCSSP’s innovative training programs, technical assistance and networking, Moldovan NGOs and media outlets will gain the resources and capacity they need to build a constituent-driven, financially viable civil society sector.  The total amount of the program is 4,5 mln. USD. Program activities will reach all regions of Moldova including the region of Transnistria.
